Dr Disrespect House Shooting
There’s an increasingly common theme getting harder to ignore (unless you’re selfish or in denial).
More shots have been fired both figuratively and literally in the gaming industry in as many weeks. Just weeks ago during a Madden tournament, a gunman opened fire during a live Twitch broadcast. 2 were fatally injured and another 11 were hospitalised. The gunman eventually turned the gun on himself. Fast forward just a few weeks and we have a reoccurring shooter on one of Twitch’s most well-known streamers, Dr Disrespect.
During the stream “The Doc”, real name Guy Beahm, can be seen playing Call of Duty where he suddenly pushes away from his chair and takes his headphones off. For a moment noises can be heard until he promptly leaves the stream for a few moments and returns to inform the audience his house has been shot at for the second day in a row. A clip of the incident can be found here.
Don’t Blame The Gurrrnzzz
It’s no secret I don’t like guns. I enjoyed them growing up, but then I grew up. I understand they have a place in war and by enforcement. I also understand they have a use for some farmers in rare instances. I just don’t buy the hick’s fable of “you can use anything to kill somebody now
I don’t think anybody ever argued that somebody can’t be killed with a car. When you think of it, though, the entire point is based on a deeply flawed fallacy. It’s the same one that posits “guns don’t kill people, people kill people”. Sure, atomic bombs don’t kill people, people drop the atomic bomb. There’s a big difference between how many people can be culled with a bomb or a gun
To be clear, I don’t think all gun lovers are stupid.
Over here in Australia we had guns essentially taken away from us after a mass shooting in Port Arthur back in 1996. The Howard government decided only the most select few could have the right to own guns and made it almost impossible for the lamens person to obtain them. While we still have gun crime, it is nowhere near as so-often-nobody-cares-anymore (or have just grown completely apathetic) as is with the USA. When you have radicals that often comment they’d rather shoot their government and start a civil war then let their gurrnnzz but taken from them – you have a problem. When you have people that don’t believe any progress is better than no progress, you have a problem. When people that have the majority of the guns are actually willing to shoot up their own government rather than lose them.. you have a fucking problem.
More people are going to die in the pursuit of a dwindling radical few that have their pockets filled by the coffers of warmongering hicks. But I do believe one day it’s’ going to change. I have faith in America, just not the type of faith the radicals throw around at their leisure in-between insulting homosexuals and dreaming of by-gone lynch mobs. That’s a different kind of faith. That’s hick faith…
I’m happy The Doc and his beautiful family are safe. Her’es hoping the perpetrators are
